St. Maarten is 37 square miles. It is one of the smallest landmasses in the world shared by two independent states The Netherlands and France.
16.5 square miles on the Dutch side, with its capital Philipsburg.
20.5 square miles on the French side, with its capital Marigot.
SINT MAARTEN CURRENCIES
On St Maarten the national currency is the Antillean Guilder. On Saint Martin the national currency is the Euro, but US Dollars are also accepted in most of the stores, restaurants and shops on both sides of the island.

The weather on St. Maarten around Christmas and January is between 66- 89 degrees Fahrenheit (19 C- 29 C). In the summer, it gets hotter and a bit more humid, with an
average temperature of 72- 89 degree Fahrenheit (23 C - 35 C). Frequent tropical rains are an added feature.
SINT MAARTEN POPULATION
As of December 2008 St Maarten (the Dutch side) has a population 51830 while Saint Martin (the French side) has about 29820 inhabitants. This is a total of 81650 people. To only think that a mere 55 years ago the island counted a total of 1458 residents
SINT MAARTEN LANGUAGE
The official languages of the island are Dutch, English and French.
Because St. Maarten is home to many different nationalities from all over the world, other languages spoken here are Spanish, Papiamento, Creole, Cantonese and Hindi.
